THE PEOPLE

"Vowels express our emotions. There is an inherent clarity in the Nordic languages and an obsession with the colour of each vowel and getting close to the text. The result is often a warm lyrical sound that's delicate and sensitive.”

Carina Einarson, Director of Music

CARINA EINARSON, Choir Conductor

Director of Music Carina Einarson holds an MFA in Music Education and Choral Teaching from the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm. In Stockholm she taught choir singing and conducting to young college students and musicians. For five years, Carina held the position of Director of Music at the Swedish Church in Marylebone, and in 2016, she became the Choir Director of St Paul's Marylebone, and formed the independent London Nordic Choir in the autumn that same year.

Carina conducts this established ensemble in a range of lyrical harmonies with a celebrated repertoire, be it medieval or modern, classical or choral. Carina is a professional musician whose work in the field of vocal/choral music is of the highest international standard. She has performed on BBC3 Radio, Wigmore Hall, Cadogan Hall, and has led a number of evensongs in St Paul's Cathedral.

Carina has an intuitive ability to grow the choristers musically and to develop their voices under her guidance. Her energy, zeal and passion for music and singing - as well as her motivational leadership - has greatly contributed to London Nordic Choir’s acclaim.

LONDON NORDIC CHOIR

Choral development is central to the choir’s ethos, with each rehearsal designed to challenge and advance every participant by evolving technical and expressive skills.

The London Nordic Choir is comprised of 25 singers from a wide range of backgrounds, ages and levels of experience. What unites us is a profound love of creating music, the curiosity to explore dynamics and harmony, and a dedication to capture the essence of each piece, regardless of style.

Carina's acumen has brought this chamber choir to prominent venues like St John’s Smith Square, Southbank, St Paul's Cathedral, Liverpool Cathedral and York Minster

With a continued ardour to deliver a performance of the highest quality, the aim is to create dramatic programmes, touching performances and unforgettable experiences, allowing the audiences to be moved by the intimacy of the human voice.

Virtual Choir – Ubi Caritas by Ola Gjeilo

As the world got locked down due to the pandemic, the choir members were keen to share some love and support as best we could, and came together – albeit digitally – to perform one of the choir's favourite pieces.

Though miles apart, Carina directed the singers on an array of smart phones, iPads and laptops scattered throughout the UK, from a summer cottage in Sweden.
